From the delicate flowers on porcelain to the classic patterns that carry history, the legendary Swedish brand Rörstrand celebrates its 300th birthday, and the Rörstrand Museum also marks its 50th anniversary.

About Rörstrand

Established in 1726 in Stockholm, Rörstrand is one of Europe's oldest ceramic factories. The brand has deeply shaped the history of Swedish design. Today, these designs are still vibrant: they appear on flea market stalls, in kitchen cabinets in thousands of homes, and they have long been integrated into the most ordinary Swedish daily life.

To celebrate the anniversary, Rörstrand collaborated with the famous Swedish coffee roaster Zoégas to launch a limited edition coffee tin, which was sold out in a very short time. Long queues formed at supermarkets, and many stores sold out as soon as they opened. Those who couldn't get their hands on one even traveled across cities to find one or turned to online platforms. In just a few days, hundreds of resale listings appeared on second-hand platforms, with prices being bid up several times. The core element behind this frenzy is the iconic pattern designed by Marianne Westman in 1952: Mon Amie (My Friend).

Exhibition Focus: "Rörstrand 300 Years - A Blossoming Anniversary Celebration"

Starting from June 13th, a three-century design history journey will officially begin. The core project of this celebration is a special exhibition named "A Blossoming." The exhibition systematically sorts out the floral theme that has always been present since the brand's inception: from the delicate blue flowers hand-painted by early artisans to the famous design classics, and to the contemporary avant-garde interpretations. In tulip vases, ceramic ornaments, and intricate patterns, the classic theme takes center stage, with beloved flowers even blooming alongside the ordinary "dandelion" in the exhibition hall.

The impact of the celebration is not limited to the museum. This summer, Läckö Castle is hosting a special exhibition "Rörstrand 300 Years." The exhibition runs from June 13th to September 13th, showcasing Swedish ceramic art across four centuries, presenting masterpieces from the 18th century to the present, including original works by design masters such as Marianne Westman, Gunnar Nylund, and Signe Persson-Melin.
