Wintergreen Plan: Supporting Struggling Graduates in Beijing Wintergreen Plan: A Special Assistance Program for Economically Disadvantaged Graduates in Beijing

As the graduation season approaches, job hunting and renting an apartment are real challenges for many recent graduates. Recently, the Beijing贝壳公益Foundation and the China Foundation for Rural Development officially signed a cooperative agreement to launch a special assistance program for economically disadvantaged graduates - the "Wintergreen Plan".

This program will provide eligible undergraduate, bachelor's, and master's graduates who choose to work in Beijing with a one-time living subsidy of 3,000 yuan each. The funds are unrestricted and can be used for rent, transportation, or other basic living expenses, helping to alleviate the financial pressure they face at the beginning of their professional lives.

The initiative originated from a personal charitable donation arrangement announced by Peng Yongdong, co-founder, chairman, and CEO of 贝壳集团, in April 2025. At that time, Peng Yongdong donated 9 million shares (worth approximately 4.4 billion yuan at the time) of the company's stock. The Wintergreen Plan is one of the specific projects under the "Graduate Assistance" category of this donation.

The first installment of Peng Yongdong's donation funds has been allocated to the China Foundation for Rural Development.

The Wintergreen Plan began its first year of implementation in 2026, piloting in Beijing. The project team has already connected with several Beijing universities to understand the graduate situation, and the first batch of funding is expected to be directly distributed to the personal accounts of relevant students in July this year. The project has established a comprehensive management system from university cooperation, student application and review, fund distribution, to follow-up evaluation, and has also set up risk control mechanisms to ensure that the funds are used precisely,规范ly, and safely for the benefit of genuinely needy graduates.

The Wintergreen Plan aims to help economically disadvantaged graduates in Beijing settle in smoothly, allowing them to focus more on their personal development and growth. At the same time, the project will help cities retain more outstanding young talent, enhancing the city's competitiveness and vitality.

Peng Yongdong has said, "Society needs corporate citizens who can take on social responsibilities, and the numbers in business are the manifestation of meaning and responsibility."

Following Peng Yongdong's announcement last year to donate 9 million shares for the Wintergreen Plan and the assistance for residential service providers, on February 24 of this year, Peng Yongdong and co-founder of 贝壳单一刚 revealed in an internal memo that on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of 贝壳 and 链家, they will jointly donate 1,000 million A-class ordinary shares of 贝壳. The after-tax funds will be used to establish the "Healthy Home 贝守护金" as a security fund for about 500,000 employees of 贝壳 and 链家 and platform service providers. At the closing price on February 23, this donation is valued at approximately 4 billion yuan, and the project is expected to start within the year.

The "Healthy Home 贝守护金" includes three sub-projects. The "Life Emergency Fund" provides a one-time payment of 20,000 yuan to those diagnosed with critical illnesses within 2 working days upon confirmation and submission of relevant documents. The other two projects provide support and a safety net for special situations. Employees and service providers in the residential industry who have lost their ability to work or meet certain conditions can receive a special one-time "Home Warm Assistance Fund" of 100,000 yuan. Additionally, beneficiaries eligible for the "Home Warm Assistance Fund" can also receive one-time educational funds ranging from 20,000 to 100,000 yuan through the "Children's Education Fund" project, depending on the age of their children in school, to help families through difficult times. This is the second donation by Chairman Peng Yongdong after donating 9 million shares last year. The two donations made by the two co-founders of 贝壳 within a year have reached a total of 8.4 billion yuan.
