When thinking about Tibet, one might envision majestic snow-capped mountains and pristine skies. However, this beauty is accompanied by harsh natural conditions – high altitude, low pressure, oxygen deficiency, and extreme temperature fluctuations. These factors have made it a "technical no-go area" for the HVAC industry, presenting a significant challenge for clean heating solutions.

Starting from 2024, the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region initiated a clean energy centralized heating pilot program in 7 pilot counties (districts) including Qoché County in Ngari Prefecture and Lingzhou County in Lhasa City. As of October 25, comprehensive heating coverage has been achieved for residents living above 5,000 meters, effectively ensuring a clean, hassle-free, and warm winter for the people of the plateau.

On January 10th, as one of the first industry participants in the Tibet clean heating pilot program, Haier Smart Home held a clean energy smart heating customer summit and shared their practical achievements, providing technical references for the industry. In Lingzhou County and Qusong County, Haier Smart Home leveraged its comprehensive strength in 8 major categories including air conditioners, heat pumps, and solar energy, with solar thermal heating, air-source heat pump heating, and a comprehensive energy management platform at its core, leading from single products to integrated solutions.

In the past, many areas in the Tibetan region still relied on burning cow dung and boilers for heating, which was not only inefficient and polluting but also posed safety risks. The extreme conditions of the plateau also made traditional solutions unsuitable, making the promotion of clean heating a difficult task. In response to this challenge, Wang Xiaokang, General Manager of Haier Smart Home Commercial HVAC for the domestic market, pointed out at the summit that Haier Smart Home has concentrated its resources on providing a multi-energy complementary, hardware and software integrated solution, benefiting 200,000 users in the region and allowing local residents to enjoy a warm winter.

In Lingzhou County, Lhasa, Haier Smart Home used 121 air-source heat pumps as the core to create an integrated "investment-construction-operation" franchise project, achieving clean heating for 233,600 square meters of the county, with a constant room temperature of over 22°C and energy savings of 30%. In Qusong County, Shannan, an innovative "solar energy + air-source heat pump" multi-energy complementary model was adopted, prioritizing the use of solar energy during sunny days and using heat pumps as a backup on cloudy days or at night, ensuring stable and cost-effective heating.

Not only in county-level centralized heating, but also at the "First Post on the World" at an altitude of 5,231 meters, at Tibet University, and at the Lhasa Wangfujing Department Store, Haier Smart Home has always focused on the real needs of users, providing customized ultra-low temperature heat pumps, AI multi-split products, and achieving reliable heating at -35°C and comprehensive energy savings over 50%.

In addition, intelligent management is the key to ensuring the efficient and economic operation of the large-scale heating system. Haier Smart Home has deployed a comprehensive energy management platform for the project, which can remotely control, intelligently manage, and provide early warning for the heating system in the entire region. It can also automatically adapt to the variable climate of the plateau through climate compensation algorithms and other intelligent adjustments, achieving a transformation from manual inspection to "unmanned" intelligent operation, significantly improving operation and maintenance efficiency and stability.

So far, Haier Smart Home has implemented dozens of clean heating projects in the Tibetan region, with each heating season reducing coal consumption by 3.06 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 8.28 million tons, equivalent to afforestation of 2.52 million square meters.
