October in Haikou, the warm and humid sea breeze sweeping over the Nanyang windows of the Qilou Old Street. The 2025 'National漆 National Craftsman' Third National Architectural Coating Vocational Skills Competition in Haikou has just ended. Shi Canya, the silver medalist in the artistic coating track, is a craftsman with seven years of experience. From following his village predecessors to the north to settle in the Haikou home improvement industry, he regards "treating every house as his own" as the core of the spirit of craftsmanship. After the competition, NetEase Home had an exclusive interview with Shi Canya, listening to this dedicated artistic coating craftsman, how to leave the texture of the years on every wall with responsibility and care.

Question 1: Master Shi, could you introduce your professional experience first?

Shi Canya: When I was young, I followed my village predecessors to the north and learned the job of interior wall scraping, which laid a solid foundation for my future career. In 2017, I came to Guangxi and continued to work hard on this land. It was an opportunity in 2018 that really helped me stand firm in the home improvement industry. At that time, I followed a relative to Haikou, who was planning to open a home improvement company. I joined his team without hesitation, starting as an ordinary worker. It was also at that time that I learned about the fields of latex paint and artistic paint in the market. With my love for work and relentless efforts, I gradually grew into a master who could stand on his own two feet. This journey has been filled with challenges and hardships, but every growth and progress has brought me great satisfaction.

Question 2: This is your first time to participate in such a large-scale competition. Were there any memorable moments during the competition process?

Shi Canya: This is my first time participating in such a large-scale competition, and I was both excited and nervous. There were many things that left a deep impression on me during the competition. Among them, the most unforgettable was the communication and learning with my colleagues and judges. In the practical operation, the judges not only strictly judged our operations but also patiently explained the technical points and shared their experiences and insights. At the same time, the exchange with other workers also benefited me a lot, we learned from each other, discussed with each other, and progressed together. In addition, during the competition, I also learned a lot about technology, dosage, and hygiene. These seemingly trivial links are directly related to the quality of the work and the satisfaction of the customers. Through this competition, I have a deeper understanding of the fact that details determine success or failure.

Question 3: In your many years of professional career, what do you think is the core of the spirit of craftsmanship?

Shi Canya: In my many years of professional career, I have gradually realized that the spirit of craftsmanship is not only the pursuit and persistence of skills, but also a love for work and a sense of responsibility. I believe that the core of the spirit of craftsmanship is "treating every house as his own." This means that we must maintain a high degree of focus and responsibility in our work, and we hope that it is both beautiful and practical, comfortable and safe. Therefore, in our work, we will actively find and solve problems, rather than wait until the customer finds them before we go to make up for them. This proactivity and responsibility are the embodiment of the spirit of craftsmanship. At the same time, the spirit of craftsmanship is also reflected in the respect and care for customers. We will keep close communication with customers, understand their needs and expectations, and then do our best to meet them. When customers recognize our work, the sense of achievement and satisfaction is indescribable.

Question 4: As a senior master with many years of work experience, how do you evaluate the products of San Shu Shu?

Shi Canya: Over the years, I have mainly used San Shu Shu products, and the most intuitive feeling is that the environmental performance is outstanding. Especially the odor-free series, there is almost no刺激性气味 during construction, and the owner can move in safely after a few days of drying. This is the most frequently mentioned advantage feedback by customers. In addition, the product has strong adhesion, and stains such as children's graffiti are easy to wipe off, and the color retention is good. We have done follow-up visits, and some walls constructed two years ago have not appeared discoloration or mildew. From the perspective of construction, the product has uniform texture, easy to apply, which greatly improves our work efficiency, and the color is also rich and does not fade, which also provides customers with more choices.

Question 5: Finally, please summarize your understanding of the "spirit of craftsmanship."

Shi Canya: In my heart, the "spirit of craftsmanship" is not only reflected in the attention and polishing of every detail, but also reflected in the respect and care for customers. We must always maintain a high degree of responsibility and mission, and strive for the best in every task. At the same time, the spirit of craftsmanship is also reflected in the inheritance and innovation of skills. We must continuously learn new knowledge and new skills, improve our professional quality and comprehensive ability. Only in this way can we stand firm in the home improvement industry, and create more value for customers. In short, the "spirit of craftsmanship" is a precious wealth in my professional career. It makes me more determined to continue to move forward in the home improvement industry with confidence and determination.
