“Amama项目:Andrea Steidl与NATUZZI和谐溯源之旅”
Natuzzi Italia Milan Design Week Showcase The Circle of Harmony at Natuzzi Italia Milan Design Week
In the 2025 Milan Design Week, the Natuzzi Italia flagship store on Durenrain Street showcased the new chapter of the "The Circle of Harmony - Rooted in Harmony" project. Among the highlights was the Amama sofa, a modular island sofa designed by Austrian designer Andrea Steidl in collaboration with NATUZZI. This innovative piece redefines space and social experiences with its bidirectional seating layout, showcasing ultimate flexibility and a reimagining of modern lifestyle.

Austrian designer Andrea Steidl, known for his minimalist and functional style, has been a key collaborator in Natuzzi's 65th-anniversary collection. His work, characterized by the combination of geometric lines and natural materials, interprets the brand's "the circle of harmony" philosophy. His /ar o/ Studio focuses on spatial storytelling, from furniture to architectural scales, exploring the concept of "sustainable luxury." Projects by the studio have been featured at London Design Festival and Dubai Design Week.

Following the success of the Mirai sofa, which Andrea Steidl first designed for NATUZZI in 2024 and went on to win several awards, the designers' second collaboration was a natural progression, filled with anticipation.
The new collection, named "Amama," is a palindrome that symbolizes the diversity and symmetry of space structure, evoking the image of a mother in certain African languages. In the field of furniture design, it represents a space for telling generational stories, conveying warmth, comfort, and tranquility. The palindrome's symmetry in form and sound reflects the project's essence: a double-sided sofa at the heart of the living room, ingeniously combining aesthetics, flexibility, and functionality to interpret a new living experience. This concept extends to the living room and dining room, forming a cohesive home collection, reshaping the interaction between people and space through design.

Andrea Steidl, inspired by architecture and lifestyle, extends his design to include functional elements such as shelves, tables, or containers in the arms or backs of furniture. This dynamic project combines elements of various materials and textures, showcasing versatility and multifunctionality in the clever pairing of overlapping and geometric forms. With 25 different pieces, the Amama project offers limitless possibilities for any space, whether in stores or various residential settings.

The dining table, with its minimalist and precise design, is envisioned as a refined and multi-functional piece of furniture. Whether made of wood or lacquer, it stands out with its simple design, distinct presence, and contemporary character. Similarly, in the living room, side cabinets combine a contemporary and practical style, merging rounded, organic bases with containers of strict shapes to create an elegant and warm environment.
The NATUZZI style center carefully selects materials and surface finishes, maintaining the harmonious unity of the Amama project through dialogues between materials. As the visual centerpiece of the flagship store, the Amama project presents a harmonious dialogue between Salina leather and Marechiaro fabric with smoked oak, green lacquer wood, and other materials, creating the ultimate harmonious effect of the project.

As a designer nurtured in Italian aesthetics, Andrea Steidl graduated from the Politecnico di Milano's Industrial Design program. Drawing inspiration from the 13th-century architecture of the Frederick II period in the Puglia region, he designed the Mirai sofa in 2024, characterized by its sturdy yet light structure. The sofa merges the depth of architecture with the softness of the contemporary through intricate visual illusion design, with lines resembling castle silhouettes, seemingly divergent spatial lines converging in curved, arc-shaped, and ever-lasting elements, giving rise to imaginative fluid sensory experiences. The Mirai sofa echoes the eternal creativity symbolized by Frederick II, reflecting the enduring aesthetics of the Puglia region and a profound gaze into the future.
From the Mirai sofa to the new Amama space, Andrea Steidl's collaborative journey with NATUZZI is not just a continuation of a design language but a profound exploration of future lifestyles. By bridging the past and future, tradition and innovation, design injects more possibilities into modern home life.
